President Trump confirmed on Tuesday that he intended to give North Korean Chairman Kim Jong Un a copy of “Rocket Man.”
“They didn’t give it. I have it for him. They didn’t give it,” Mr. Trump said to pool reporters before departing for Europe, “But it will be given at a certain period – I actually do, I actually do have a little gift for him, but you’ll find out what that gift is when I give it.”
Reports surfaced on Friday that Elton John’s “Honky Chateau” was intended to be given as a gift as Secretary of State Michael Pompeo worked in North Korea to settle details of the denuclearization timeline.
The reports suggested the album, which features the “Rocket Man” referred to a conversation between the two leaders about the infamous nickname Mr. Trump gave to Mr. Kim.
Mr. Trump promoted a positive outlook on the relationship between the U.S. and North Korea on Monday, despite reports that North Korea is disillusioned with the partnership.
