GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Seth Corry and three other pitchers combined for a shutout as the AZL Giants Orange defeated the AZL Indians 2 3-0 on Wednesday.
Corry (2-1) went five scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out three and walking three to pick up the win. Carlos Vargas (0-1) went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run and two hits in the Arizona League game. He also struck out three and walked five. Logan Harasta pitched two scoreless innings for his first save of the season.
In the top of the third, AZL Giants Orange took the lead on a wild pitch that scored Yorlis Rodriguez. The AZL Giants Orange then added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Hector Santiago hit an RBI single, while Tyler Flores hit an RBI single in the seventh.
Flores reached base five times in the win.
The AZL Indians 2 were blanked for the first time this season, while the AZL Giants Orange’s staff also registered their first shutout of the year.
