MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Jordan Diaz hit a run-scoring single in the first inning, leading the AZL Athletics to a 7-2 win over the AZL Cubs 1 on Wednesday.

The single by Diaz started the scoring in a three-run inning and gave the AZL Athletics a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Alonzo Medina hit an RBI single and then scored on an error.

The AZL Athletics later added one run in the second and sixth innings and two in the eighth to secure the victory.

Angello Infante (3-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while AZL Cubs 1 starter Yunior Perez (1-1) took the loss in the Arizona League game.
