LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Las Vegas councilman who admitted to misusing campaign funds has been sentenced to one month in prison, three months in a halfway house and eight months in home detention.

Ricki Barlow on Friday was also ordered to pay $66,000 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud in February, weeks after resigning from his post.

Barlow in his guilty plea agreement admitted to arranging a kickback scheme to divert funds from his 2015 re-election campaign to himself.

He also admitted to accepting $17,000 in cash campaign contributions that he never reported.

Authorities have said Barlow hired friends and acquaintances to be campaign vendors, submit exaggerated invoices and then give about half of their paychecks to him, usually in cash.

Barlow was first elected in 2007.
