ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 2-year-old boy has drowned after falling into a southern Michigan pond from a small boat that was pulled onto the shore.
State police say the child was found Tuesday evening in Hillsdale County’s Allen Township, southwest of Detroit.
The boy appears to have climbed in the boat and then fell over the back into the water.
Family members noticed the child was missing and found him unconscious in the pond. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed, but he later was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police don’t suspect foul play, but say the drowning remains under investigation.
