GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Vice President Mike Pence touted the mission of the Grand Forks Air Force Base during a visit to the base.
Pence met with airmen Wednesday and was briefed on the base’s main mission - providing reconnaissance around the globe for the U.S.
WDAZ-TV reports Pence addressed about 200 airmen to assure them their mission has the support of the White House.
Pence also appeared at an event for Rep. Kevin Cramer’s Senate campaign earlier in the day. In a statement, Cramer said he spoke to Pence about farmers’ concerns about effects of the administration’s trade policy.
President Donald Trump came to Fargo last month to promote Cramer, who is running against Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp. It’s considered one of the key races in the GOP’s effort to maintain control of the Senate.
