EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - The body of a man pulled from the McKenzie River has been identified as a 73-year-old man from Bend.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office says Donald Girardi went missing on Memorial Day after his canoe overturned.

Divers recovered the body Sunday near Junction City after it was noticed by a boater.

Sheriff’s officials said Girardi had parked his vehicle at a boat launch along the McKenzie and took his canoe onto the river. A witness saw him go underwater near Hayden Bridge.
