ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon man has been convicted of sexually abusing a girl.

The Albany Democrat-Herald reports 38-year-old Zhivago Caya Rhodes was found guilty of first-degree sex abuse after a three-day trial in Linn County.

Sentencing has been scheduled for July 5.

Prosecutor George Eder told jurors that the girl quickly told her brother and grandmother about the incident that happened in an Albany apartment on Dec. 2. Eder said she provided concrete details to investigators and they were not coaxed from her.

Rhodes, who previously coached youth football in Alsea, took the witness stand Thursday to deny abusing the girl. When the verdict was announced, he looked down, repeatedly shaking his head.
