WILLISTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont officials say a police officer did not commit fraud contrary to a previous accusation, and thus can still serve as a reliable witness for criminal cases.
Chittenden County State’s Attorney Sarah George said Wednesday that former Williston Police Officer Justin Huizenga was under scrutiny after she received an anonymous report. The Burlington Free Press reports the report concerned his behavior and a previous internal investigation conducted by Williston officials.
George says she believes there’s no probable cause to believe Huizenga committed fraud while employed by the Williston Police Department.
The officer currently works in Winooski, and had resigned from the Williston Police Department in 2017.
Huizenga says he returned to full duty on Wednesday after George’s decision, saying the allegations were “unsubstantiated.”
