BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A 29-year-old Billings man has pleaded guilty to deliberate homicide in the May 2017 death of his 7-month-old son.

The Billings Gazette reports Grant Edwin Johnson entered his plea Monday in District Court in Billings. Sentencing is set for Aug. 24. Jail records indicate he’s been in custody since January with his bail set at $500,000.

Johnson acknowledged dropping the child, picking him up and intentionally throwing him to the ground. Court records say Johnson told investigators he was frustrated because the baby was fussy. Prosecutors say he did not seek medical help for several hours.

An autopsy found injuries to the baby’s brain and spinal cord and broken ribs from a previous incident that had begun healing.
