The RNC released a new ad Tuesday that paints the Democratic Party as “unhinged.”

The minute-long ad features a montage of controversial clips from celebrities and elected officials criticizing President Trump.

It starts with audio from Sen. Bernard Sanders, Vermont independent, during the 2016 election describing “fringe ideas” as mainstream, paired with Kathy Griffin’s pose with a severed fake Trump head. It includes comedians Samantha Bee and Michelle Wolf insulting key female members of the Trump administration.

The most recent clip in the video shows California Rep. Maxine Waters urging a cheering crowd to pressure Trump officials out of public spaces.

“You tell them they are not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she said in the clip.

“Voters have a clear choice in 2018. The Democrat Party is the party of obstruction and extreme rhetoric while the Republican Party is working to deliver a stronger economy for all Americans.” RNC spokesman Steve Guest told The Washington Times.

The GOP ad is part of a larger campaign gearing up for midterms to bolster Republican achievements, while framing the Democratic Party as intent on obstruction.

Mr. Trump has pushed back this week against Democratic leaders, especially Ms. Waters in light of her speech. He called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Ms. Waters the “unhinged” face of the leftist party.
