BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Bismarck’s police chief will be stepping down in about a month.

Chief Dan Donlin in January announced his intent to retire this summer or early fall after 30 years with the police department, including five years as chief.

He’s now submitted his official letter of retirement to the city, with his last day of work being July 20.

Donlin has accepted a position with the state Transportation Department’s Safety Division.
