BEAR, Del. (AP) - Authorities say a Delaware man has been charged with possessing multiple pipe bombs.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports 24-year-old Ryan T. Boyd was arrested Thursday. Court records say police were told in May that Boyd told someone he had bombs and was going to “make the school year go out with a bang.” Police then searched Boyd’s Bear-area home and found three pipe bombs in a Coors Light cooler bag.

Records say Boyd initially denied owning the bombs, but he then said he planned to use the bombs in the woods and hadn’t planned to blow up a school. Records say an officer reported later overhearing Boyd tell his mother that he was “just saying what they wanted to hear to make this go away.”

It’s unclear if Boyd has an attorney.
