GLADEWATER, Texas (AP) - The pilot of an ultra-light plane has escaped serious injury after his small aircraft crashed into a northeast Texas lake.

Authorities say the pilot, whose name wasn’t immediately released, was trying to land on Lake Gladewater when the plane became unstable and flipped. Officials describe the plane as experimental and amateur-built.

The wreckage has been recovered from the lake about 100 miles (160.93 kilometers) east of Dallas.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the Saturday crash.
