ROME, Maine (AP) - An Army veteran who created a lakeside retreat for war-injured veterans says he will welcome even more families this summer.

Travis Mills lost all four limbs in an explosion in Afghanistan. He created the Travis Mills Foundation Veterans Retreat to host the veterans and their families free of charge. The retreat welcomed more than 80 veteran families from 28 states last year.

Mills and the foundation say this year it plans to welcome 128 veteran families between late June and December.

He says the retreat will open up for a “Summer Community Open House” on Aug. 4. His plans for the fall include expanding the facility.
