GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Deputies say a man gave up peacefully after ending a high-speed chase at his home and firing at officers.
Greenville County deputies say 40-year-old Charles Martin is a felon and was not supposed to have a gun.
Arrest warrants say Martin kept going when a deputy tried to stop him Thursday and drove up to 88 mph (142 kph) as officers chased him to his Greenville home.
Authorities say Martin fired several rounds from a handgun before hiding inside his home for three hours. Deputies say he eventually surrendered peacefully to a SWAT team.
Martin faces several charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities didn’t know if he had a lawyer.
