CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A former corrections center employee in Wyoming has been sentenced to probation for having sexual contact with an inmate.
Tosha Sheesley was sentenced Thursday to three years of probation with a suspended prison term of three to five years.
The 24-year-old former resident manager at the Casper Re-Entry Center pleaded guilty in March to a single count of third-degree sexual assault. Sheesley will be required to register as a sex offender.
Sheesley’s guilty plea was conditional, allowing her to appeal a judge’s earlier ruling.
Under state law, it is illegal for corrections employees to have sex with inmates regardless of age or consent. Her court-appointed attorney Dylan Rosalez told the Casper Star-Tribune that Sheesley will challenge the constitutionality of that law.
