RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina agency has told a legislator to stop referring to herself on social media and her campaign website as a registered nurse.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports Dare County Republican Rep. Beverly Boswell identified herself as a registered nurse on her campaign website and Facebook page until the N.C. Board of Nursing, responding to a complaint, asked her to stop.

Boswell is a medical assistant and phlebotomist, someone trained to draw blood. Board spokesman David Kalbacker said Boswell is not and has never been a licensed nurse.

A check on Wednesday showed neither of her campaign sites contained any reference to a registered nurse. Boswell told the newspaper she was unaware of the mistake, adding that it was included because a campaign volunteer misunderstood her job.
