JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi’s College Board is naming a senior administrator as acting president of the Mississippi University for Women beginning July 1.

Nora Miller, now MUW’s senior vice president and chief financial officer, will take over for Jim Borsig after his scheduled retirement.

Trustees named Miller Thursday. She graduated from the 2,800-student university in Columbus, and has worked there since 2001.

As acting president, Miller could be named as the university’s permanent leader.

Board spokeswoman Caron Blanton says trustees will meet with MUW faculty, students and alums before deciding if they will launch a national search. If trustees decide against, they could then name Miller as permanent president.

Blanton says Miller would have to resign as acting president to be eligible for the permanent post if the board conducts a national search.
