CHICAGO (AP) - Chicagoans who can hop on a bike, ride it around and park it somewhere else in the city may soon be able to do the same thing with a car.
The City Council this week will consider a proposal to let Car2Go set up shop in parts of the city’s North Side and near South Side. The Chicago Tribune reports that if the pilot program is approved, the car-sharing company will begin operations in Chicago in May.
Car2Go’s business model differs from rental car or car-share businesses that require cars be picked up and dropped off at the same spot because it allows drivers drop cars off anywhere they want within designated zones in the city. The company already operates in cities including Seattle and Vancouver.
