WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The trial of two men in the shooting death of a 15-year-old Delaware high school student has been postponed.

Jury selection in the trial of Zaahir Smith and Diamonte Taylor was to have started Monday, but a defense attorney requested a postponement.

The two, along with a third man, were indicted on murder, conspiracy, weapons and gang participation charges in the 2016 killing of Brandon Wingo in Wilmington.

Prosecutors say the defendants were members of the Shoot to Kill gang, while Wingo was affiliated with a rival gang, Only My Brothers.

Wingo was fatally shot in May 2016 as he walked home from Howard High School of Technology.

The shooting occurred less than a month after a fight in a girl’s restroom at Howard High left 16-year-old Amy Joyner-Francis dead.
