CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - One of three West Virginia men indicted in a May 2017 shooting that wounded a witness in a murder case has pleaded guilty.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports 19-year-old Marland Eugene Clark took a plea deal Monday morning. Prosecutors say Clark, 21-year-old Trashawn Dezour Mills and 22-year-old Tequan Pratt had been riding in a car together before Mills shot Jaylnn Stephenson, who is a witness in a 2016 killing in which Pratt’s associate is accused.

Kanawha County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maryclaire Akers agreed to drop a misdemeanor gun charge in exchange for Clark’s guilty plea to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

County Circuit Judge Charles King is scheduled to sentence Clark on April 25. King agreed to delay Mills and Pratt’s hearings while attorneys pursued plea deals.
