WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say an 85-year-old woman has died in a Massachusetts house fire that was spotted by a firefighter heading into work, who then helped a rescue a man from the home.

Worcester fire officials say the city fire lieutenant spotted the flames at about 7 a.m. Monday and brought one man to safety. Fire crews then arrived and pulled the woman and another man from the building.

All three people were taken to the hospital where the woman later died.

No names were immediately released but both men were reportedly in their 60s and are expected to survive after suffering from smoke inhalation.

The cause is under investigation.
