PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - The autopsy of a former Pueblo County inmate - whose family is suing - indicates that the man died of natural causes.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that the lawsuit filed last week against two members of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and a medical technician claims the poor health of 41-year-old Joseph Jaramillo was ignored. The lawsuit says the technician ignored signs that Jaramillo was dying of a head injury caused by two deputies after he allegedly flipped one of them off.

Forensic pathology consultant Michael A. Burson says Jaramillo’s “cause of death is complications of a ruptured aneurysm of the basilar artery of the brain.”

Burson says that “despite concerns regarding a physical altercation by law enforcement causing the intracranial hemorrhage, there is no anatomic evidence to support any physical trauma.”
