BOSTON (AP) - The state’s first cabinet-level IT official is stepping down.

Republican Gov. Charlie Baker announced Friday that Secretary of Technology Services and Security Mark Nunnelly will be leaving state government on June 18. He’ll be replaced in the post by Curt Wood, currently undersecretary for forensic science and technology in the state Department of Public Safety.

Nunnelly joined the Baker administration in 2015 as revenue commissioner and the following year was named to head MassIT, the agency that oversaw the state’s information technology operations.

The position was elevated to cabinet-level status last summer.

Baker credits Nunnelly with helping launch the state’s redesigned Mass.gov website, upgrading online unemployment insurance claims and launching mandatory training in cybersecurity for all executive branch workers.
