Inmate at South Carolina prison dies

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - An inmate at a South Carolina prison has died after he was found unresponsive in his cell.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said 18-year-old Jamarcus Hykeem Dawkins was found late Friday night at the Kirkland Correctional Institution. He was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.

Watts said the cause of death is still under investigation.
