ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - An Alaska grand jury has indicted a 32-year-old Wasilla man suspected of fraudulently selling furniture.
Federal prosecutors say Dmitry Kudryn bought at least $300,000 in wholesale furniture from a manufacturer in China and fraudulently sold pieces in Alaska as “Italian leather furniture.”
He’s charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud from July 2014 through March.
Online court documents do not list Kudryn’s attorney. He remained jailed Friday in Anchorage.
Prosecutors say he bought furniture from a Chinese sofa manufacturer and advertised pieces on Craigslist as leftover samples that could be offered at a discounted price.
Prosecutors say he claimed each furniture unit was worth $4,800 and “shipped from the lower 48.” He sold the pieces for $2,400.
