A student-led group supporting Second Amendment rights planned a walkout Wednesday at high schools across the nation.

Stand for the Second is a group founded by Will Riley, a senior at Carlsbad High School in New Mexico. The group’s website shows a map of areas where students have registered their school as a planned walkout, and links to the conservative group Tea Party Patriots’ website.

High schools have seen walkouts this year for gun related issues, but have mostly focused on gun control legislation. The issue surged back into the political debate after 17 people were killed at a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, in February.

Students at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School, where the shooting took place, became national figures and often appeared on television and magazine covers to promote their cause in the weeks following the shooting.

Stand for the Second said on its website that it hopes to receive a similar platform to express their views.
