LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) - Firefighters in Livingston rescued two owlets and are offering a $200 reward for information leading to whoever is responsible for killing their mother.
Students at a Livingston middle school had been watching the great horned owl family, but someone threw rocks at the nest Tuesday night, killing the mother.
The owlets were taken to the Montana Raptor Conservation Center in Bozeman Wednesday. Director of operations and development Jordan Spyke tells ABC FOX Montana they’ll make sure the owls are in good physical shape and will find a nest in the wild that will foster them.
Spyke says raptor center staff work with property owners to find nests where orphaned owlets might fit in. He says their goal is to get them back out into the wild as soon as possible.
