2 Mississippi men plead guilty in man who died in 2014 fight

LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - Two Mississippi men have pleaded guilty to killing the boyfriend of one of their mothers.

WDAM-TV reports Timothy Meadows and Alex Crews are both 21 now. They were 17 when they had a fight with Timothy Williamson of Moselle.

The 44-year-old Williamson was dating Crews’ mother. He died of strangulation and blunt force trauma.

A jury in 2015 convicted Crews and Meadows of manslaughter and sentenced each to 20 years. The convictions were overturned in 2017 because the state didn’t follow the proper procedure to transfer the cases from youth court.

Meadows and Crews pleaded guilty to manslaughter Thursday, and Williamson’s mother said in court that she forgives the men.

Meadows was sentenced to 15 years, with six to serve. Crews was sentenced to 20 years with 16 to serve.
