3-year-old South Carolina boy dies after being shot in head

WALTERBORO, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina authorities say a 3-year-old boy has died hours after he was shot in head.

Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey tells WCSC that 3-year-old Aiden Martin of Walterboro died Saturday morning. He was shot in the head on Friday night.

Harvey says an autopsy will be performed Sunday.

Lt. Tyger Benton says deputies responded late Friday to Colleton County Medical Center, where the boy’s father had brought him. Aiden died about 6 a.m. Saturday at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Deputies haven’t provided any details about the shooting.
