DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware attorney has been suspended from practicing law after being arrested on gun and drug charges.

In a ruling Thursday, the Delaware Supreme Court ordered that 30-year-old Donald C. Vavala III be immediately suspended pending disciplinary proceedings before the Board on Professional Responsibility. The board considers disciplinary matters regarding violations of the Delaware Lawyers’ Rules of Professional Conduct.

Vavala was arrested by Delaware State Police last month after a traffic stop in Wilmington led to the discovery of two loaded handguns and a plastic baggie containing amphetamine pills.

Vavala was charged with drunken driving, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and other offenses.

He was released on $4,675 unsecured bail.
