ST. LOUIS (AP) - An 18-year-old St. Louis County man is charged with two felonies in the death of a woman who was shot in the face as she held her 2-month-old child.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports 18-year-old Christian Beemer, of Spanish Lake, was charged Friday with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Police allege Beemer killed 19-year-old Shawnee Staten, in her apartment in north St. Louis County on April 29.
Court documents indicate investigators believe Beemer shot Staten once in the face at close range while she was holding her daughter.
A probable-cause statement says a witness identified Beemer, and he admitted to authorities that he was present at the time of the murder.
Beemer’s bail was set at $1 million, cash only.
