LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State Police have identified a 25-year-old man from Las Cruces who was killed Friday evening when he crashed a motorcycle.

Police say the first spotted Spencer Lane Meister going over 100 miles per hour while heading westbound on Highway 70 west of Alamogordo, but lost sight of him.

Police say he later ran a stop sign and hit a sports utility vehicle head-on while in Las Cruces. Officers believe he was speeding. He was pronounced dead on-scene.
