PROVO, Utah (AP) - Court records show a driver involved in a fatal crash in Provo last month was looking at his girlfriend and kissing her hand moments before his utility truck collided with a sport utility vehicle.

Records from the April 15 crash were released Sunday. A 3-year-old girl who was in the SUV died in the crash, while another girl in the same vehicle was critically injured.

The driver has not been charged. An affidavit says he appeared to be driving around the speed limit and was kissing his girlfriend’s hand when he was suddenly struck by the air bag.

Provo police Detective Paul Shade says the driver was on call for his city job and tested positive for opioids. He says a bottle of anti-seizure medication was also found in the truck.
