MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer in Tennessee shot a suspect in the hand.

News outlets cite a Memphis police release that says a passenger fled from a vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday with what appeared to be a handgun and bag of marijuana. An officer chased the man, and shots were fired in an ensuing struggle.

It’s unknown if the suspect fired a gun.

The man fled to a nearby home after he was shot and asked a stranger to use the phone. Authorities found him at the house and took him to the hospital. Authorities say his injury was not critical.

Two other people in the car that was stopped were detained.

It’s unclear if anyone has been charged.

No identities have been released.
