WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - Federal authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a Rhode Island church on Thanksgiving eve.
U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms spokesman Matthew O’Shaughnessy confirmed Monday that the agency is leading a probe into the Woodbury Union Church fire. Officials say the blaze at the Warwick church began outside and moved inside before engulfing the steeple.
No one was inside the building at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.
Pastor T.J. DeMarco says authorities told him they didn’t suspect foul play.
An investigation continues.
