NORWELL, Mass. (AP) - Police in Massachusetts say a suspect is in custody following a police standoff against a man barricaded inside a home.
Norwell police say they were called to check on a resident Wednesday afternoon, but the SWAT team was called in because the person had weapons in the home. Residents were advised to avoid the area as it was happening.
The standoff ended in the evening, and the police led the man out of the house and into a nearby ambulance. Officials say the man was taken to an area hospital for a mental health evaluation after being taken into custody.
The suspect has not been publicly identified.
