MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - An official from the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections says a 65-year-old inmate was found dead in a booking area of the Valley Street jail in Manchester.
The department says Russell Beard was found unconscious in the booking area of the jail about 9:55 p.m. Friday. Two other inmates were in the holding area as well.
WMUR-TV reports Beard was being held by Litchfield police for violation of a protective order, stalking, domestic violence and breach of bail. He had been jailed twice before.
Superintendent David Dionne says officials had no indication Beard was in any form of distress.
Officials say an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
