TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gas prices have remained stable in New Jersey and around the nation despite hurricane destruction in the southeastern United States.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas Friday in New Jersey was $2.90, the same as last week. Motorists were paying $2.49 for gas in New Jersey at this time last year.

The national average gas price Friday was $2.91 a gallon, also unchanged from last week. The national average a year ago was $2.48 a gallon.

Analysts say as the southeastern United States recovers from the hurricane, gas prices are expected to remain stable, although there may be price increases along the storm’s path due to flooding and power outages.
