CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - Thousands of Bostonians are planning a walk to help fight kidney disease, a condition that affects millions of Americans.

Sunday’s Boston Kidney Walk starts at 10:30 a.m. at North Point Park in Cambridge.

Organizers say their goal is to raise $750,000 to help find a cure for kidney disease.

Waltham-based Fresenius Medical Care North America, which operates 52 dialysis centers around the Boston area, is sponsoring the walk.

It says more than 73 million people are at risk to develop kidney disease, but most don’t know it.

The Kidney Walks are the nation’s largest walk series in support of the fight against the disease.
