LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Almost 15 percent of Arkansas’ public schools received an A letter grade on the latest report assessing school performance.
The Arkansas Department of Education says 152 schools received the top grade out of the state’s 1,034 public schools. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette , 44 schools received an F grade and 145 schools received a D.
The A-to-F letter grades are based standardized test scores, graduation rates and attendance rates, among other factors.
The state says schools that are among the 5 percent lowest-performing will receive extra support from their school districts, and they are eligible federal school improvement grants.
