WESTBROOK, Maine (AP) - Maine’s Democratic U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree says she won’t rank candidates this fall when she votes in the three-way race for her seat.
The incumbent made the comments during a WMTW-TV congressional candidate forum Wednesday. Her Republican challenger, Mark Holbrook, also said he won’t use the ranked-choice system. Independent state Rep. Marty Grohman said he would.
The question was asked during a lightning round during the forum. The candidates didn’t explain their choices.

Ranked-choice voting will be used in Maine for the first time in federal races next month. A candidate who wins a majority of first-round votes is the winner. If there’s no majority, there are additional voting rounds.
