NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A jury has convicted a Newark man in the fatal shooting of a robbery victim.

The victim, 24-year-old Shakime Peppers was sitting on his stoop on June 20, 2015 when two men approached and robbed him and another man.

As Peppers tried to run away, he was shot in the back and later died.



After six hours of deliberations, on Thursday a jury convicted 27-year-old Kevin Miller of Newark on felony murder, robbery and other counts. His co-conspirator hasn’t been identified.

Miller is scheduled to be sentenced in January and will serve a minimum of 30 years.
