LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Police say a New Mexico man suspected of stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend was arrested after church parishioners held him down.
Las Cruces police say Nicholas Bravo was arrested Wednesday following an attempt to wash away blood evidence in the restroom of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
According to court documents, the 22-year-old Bravo stabbed the victim after seeing him with his ex-girlfriend. Police say Bravo then fled to the church’s restroom before trying to leave.
Court documents say that’s when parishioners refuse to let him leave.
Bravo was later arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.
Police say the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
No attorney was listed for Bravo.
