Coast Guard searches for lobsterman who fell overboard

JONESORT, Maine (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a lobsterman who’s reported to have fallen overboard.

Officials say Coast Guard boats and aircraft have been searching the waters around Doyle Island, which is off Jonesport in Down East Maine.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman, Chellsey Phillips, said that two men in another boat witnessed the incident Tuesday morning. The distress call was made at 9:15 a.m.

Phillips said a Coast Guard helicopter and airplane searched the area, along with boats. She said the state police dive team is on the scene.
