CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming judge has sentenced a former Cheyenne caregiver to five years of probation for stealing over $21,000 from a man with dementia.

KGAB-AM in Cheyenne reports that District Court Judge Catherine Rogers on Thursday also ordered 75-year-old Elizabeth Lutz to pay more than $44,500 in restitution.

Lutz pleaded guilty to exploitation of a vulnerable adult last May, admitting that she knew the man had dementia when she took him to the courthouse to have her name put on three of his vehicles.

Court records say Lutz, who began living with and caring for the man after his wife died in 2012, also made 57 unauthorized transactions on his account.
