President Trump called fake news “the true Enemy of the People” on Monday and demanded it stop “inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news.”

“The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly,” Mr. Trump tweeted. “That will do much to put out the flame of Anger and Outrage and we will then be able to bring all sides together in Peace and Harmony. Fake News Must End!”

Critics argue Mr. Trump’s rhetoric toward the media and political opponents have incited political violence in the country.

The criticism continues to mount in the aftermath of finding more than at dozen pipe bombs mailed to prominent Democrats and a mass shooting at a Pennsylvania synagogue.

Despite the backlash, Mr. Trump has not backed down on his abrasive tone.

The president called billionaire Democratic donor and leader of the Impeach Trump movement Tom Steyer a “crazed lunatic” in a tweet Saturday night. The FBI confirmed Saturday that Mr. Steyer received another package, similar to the 13 others found last week.

Two the packages were addressed to CNN’s main offices in New York, the first prompting a massive evacuation during their broadcast.
