NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The home of a New Orleans civil rights attorney is now the fifth historic site in the African American Civil Rights Network.
An Interior Department statement says Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and the family of A.P. Tureaud (TOO-row) Sr. made the announcement Monday.
As attorney for the New Orleans chapter of the NAACP, Tureaud challenged segregation at Louisiana State University and in New Orleans public schools.
