ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida man has been charged with driving under the influence and marijuana possession after crashing into a police car.

A St. Petersburg police news release says the crash happened Monday morning, shortly after midnight.

Police say the officer was heading to a non-emergency call when 23-year-old Chapin Huffman hit her at an intersection. The officer was checked out at a hospital and then sent home to recuperate.

Huffman was arrested and then freed on his own recognizance. Jail records didn’t list an attorney.
